Bea’viskar

Bea’viskar are the ancestor species that gave rise to the daivas present on Infinity Horizon. What passes off as a Bea’viskar is, in fact, two species in symbiosis. The Bea, a sentient lifeform, has come to rely on the Viskar for its nutritional needs. The Viskar, in turn, is offered a host that provides protection and mobility. Millions of years of co-evolution have led to the Bea developing higher intelligence at the determinant of losing their ability to self-metabolize nutrients.   

Bea’viskar Society

Unlike human society, Bea’viskar society was non-hierarchical. This is because it is hard to establish rigid class structures when the most basic essentials to a Bea’viskar – food and sunlight – are not something any other can control and monopolize.

Though long-lived and gifted as a species, there is only so much a single individual can do alone. When joint effort was required to complete a task, the Bea’viskar would form a committee. For even grander initiatives, multiple committees may merge to form a collective. In rarer cases, even collectives may join together to form what is called a syndicate.

These arrangements were always temporary; as soon as the task was done, the groupings dissolved.  This social behavior is still mirrored in the present-day Daivas.

Bea’viskar- Human Relations    

Ever since their subjugation, humans continued to perplex the Bea’viskar. For one, despite having been the dominant species on their home planet, they seemed subservient to other mammalian lifeforms such as the cat. Bea’viskar scholars tried to interpret this peculiar arrangement where one species had willingly committed itself to the pampering of another despite garnering no tangible benefit in return.

When asked, the humans’ responses were often of a decidedly informal register, consisting of statements like, “they heckin chonkers breadloaf adorinos.” Needless to say, this left the scholars even more baffled.

Human language had also been a point of contention among Bea’viskar scholarship. Going through historical texts, it appeared that the human language had diminished in complexity. This went against the prior dominant theory that language grew more complex as a civilization advanced. Bea’viskar blamed it on the corruption that once was the human  ‘internet.’

Humans, in contrast, saw Bea’viskar as paternalistic, hypocritical in their imperial ambitions, and dismissive of cultures that refused to conform to their “universal ideals”. This would eventually culminate in the YeXXX rebellion and the eventual dissolution of the Bea’viskarian empire into the Galactic Commonwealth.
